Over the late spring and early summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming four student interns to the EmVision team: Nathan, Johnny, Marissa, and Joey.
Nathan joined us from Walsh Jesuit High School, Johnny and Marissa are students at Aurora High School, and Joey attends Kenston High School. All four will be heading off to college this fall with plans to pursue careers in the finance industry.
We were grateful for the opportunity to spend time with them and give them a closer look at what life inside a financial advisory firm really looks like.
Learning The Business From The Inside Out
Throughout their internship experience, they had the chance to learn about many different parts of our business—from financial planning and investments to operations, client service, marketing, and leadership.
One of the things we always try to emphasize is that it takes a strong team with many different skill sets working together to create a great experience for clients.
They spent time with team members across the firm learning not just what we do, but why we do it. We encouraged questions, conversations, and hands-on learning whenever possible.
More Than Just Finance
One tradition Michael continues each year is giving interns a copy of Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.
The book often sparks great conversations around financial education, mindset, and long-term thinking—topics we believe are valuable no matter what career path someone chooses, especially for students preparing to enter the financial industry.
A Great Experience For Everyone
What stood out most during their time here was their willingness to learn and engage. They brought great attitudes, thoughtful questions, and genuine curiosity about both the industry and the professional world in general.
Internships are valuable because they give students a chance to experience what a workplace actually feels like beyond the classroom. We hope this experience gave each of them useful insight as they begin this next chapter.
We enjoyed having them as part of the office over the past few months, and we’re excited to see what’s ahead for all four of them as they head to college this fall.
Best of luck, Nathan, Johnny, Marissa, and Joey—we’re rooting for you.
